ICELAND
In 2024, I traveled to Iceland on a long-awaited bucket list adventure. This photo journal captures some of my favorite images from the journey, paired with excerpts from my field notes documenting the landscapes, weather, and moments experienced along the way.
“On my flight to Iceland. It’s a weird feeling, traveling alone again. It’s been 15 years since my last real solo travel. Thailand in 2009. Iceland has been a bucket list place for a long time now and I’m excited to finally see it.”
Kerlingarfjöll
“I could have been on Mars. The reds and oranges were unreal. Steam from geothermal activity everywhere. A striking introduction to Iceland.“
Háifoss
“It was humbling at the bottom. The mist was as thick as rain. The roar was deafening. You could feel the ground shaking, and the sound hit your chest like a shockwave.”
Brúarfoss
Fjallabak
“It’s not hard to imagine I’m on a different planet. The landscape goes from beautiful to hostile in a matter of minutes. Lush green gives way to barren and rocky, jagged peaks everywhere. The highlands are ominous when the weather turns.”
Aerials
“Craters, glaciers, mountains, valleys, rivers, lakes…every day it’s something new. Going out to the highlands is like stepping into a new world. We don’t see many people out here. Maybe one or two other cars per day. Zero cell service. It’s an amazing feeling, the solitude of being in the highlands.”
River Braids
“There didn't seem to be anything there. Just flat, wet land. As soon as I got the drone up it was something else. Miles and miles of water flowing through different channels, weaving and intersecting. The patterns were endless.”

Little Moments
“Last day in Iceland. The mood is somber. I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface here. Packing up my gear was an odd feeling. Like a piece was missing. I’m not ready to leave. But I know I’ll be back someday soon.”
